The Fetal and Perinatal Medicine research group is based at Hospital Clínic in Barcelona and is an interdisciplinary research team whose main strategic objective is to provide solutions to prenatal diseases by.

  • Identifying the mechanisms involved in fetal brain and heart reprogramming due to hypoxia
  • Developing new technologies to allow early diagnosis and identifying potential therapeutic targets
  • Combining different methods to address fetal problems from distinct perspectives, with special emphasis on including a societal view in research design through effective relationships with various patient associations.
  • Integrating research from prenatal to postnatal care in the unit’s functional design, so that the fetus and child are seen as the same patient over time; this is a unique model that has received numerous awards.
